Student Council

The Student Council is the self-governing body of students and youth at Osh State University. The OshSU Student Council is a structural body composed of students at the university, implementing state and university youth policies within its competence. It was established based on the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on “Developing the State Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic” and operates in accordance with the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Education” and “On the Fundamentals of State Youth Policy,” the Charter of OshSU, the education and upbringing concept, the Regulation “On the Student Council of Osh State University” (discussed by the Academic Council of OshSU and approved by the Rector on March 24, 2020), and other regulatory legal acts. The Council maintains close cooperation with national and local government bodies, as well as public and non-governmental youth organizations.

Structure of the Student Council

Student Activists Community

The Student Activists Community is composed of active students nominated by the Student Council of each faculty and the vice-deans/directors in charge of educational and extracurricular work. They participate in raising problems among students, discussing ways to resolve them, proposing solutions, and evaluating the activities of the University Student Council. On behalf of the students, they submit proposals and appeals to the Student Council and the university administration.

Projects and Events Implemented by the Student Council

Traditional events aimed at fostering corporate culture among OshSU students, motivating them to study, and encouraging their personal growth and development are held in every institute, faculty, and college of the university. Each event has a developed regulation and program. The organization and implementation of these events are carried out by students.

Ongoing projects of the Student Council include:

  • “OshSU for Students” project;

  • “Young Scientist” project;

  • “One Hour with a Leader” project;

  • “Opinion Forum” TV project;

  • “Leadership School” project.
